We are looking for a part-time linguist/translator to assist in the translation of our new English Foreign Language Programme. This programme has been designed for non-native English speakers, specifically those whose first language is Afrikaans. This will require the translation of already created English materials into Afrikaans, with very careful attention to detail and accuracy. This is a time-sensitive project, and we will require completion of phase 1 by December 2024.
Remote Job (We are open to candidates from all over, but if they are based in JHB, it would be ideal to be able to meet in person from time to time)
Job Type: Part-time (Open to applicants accross SA)
Pay: R50,00 - R100,00 per hour
Expected hours: 3 – 6 per week

Candidate Requirements
- In terms of qualification, the candidate would need a relevant degree (either in translation or linguistics or language in general). A background in translating educational material would be ideal for us.
- Fluent in Afrikaans (experience translating English to Afrikaans)
- Experience Level: Must have a substantial portfolio (a number of different projects completed successfully)

- a good understanding and in-depth knowledge of language/country-specific cultures (localisation)
- excellent writing skills and command of grammar.
