PRIMARY PURPOSE
The Group Head of Training and Standards is a key member of the Wilderness Air Group Air Support Team who is assigned to lead, plan, direct and coordinate all training and development and procedural activities in the organization and across the regions of operation. They are tasked with ensuring the proper administration and standardization of all flight and ground based training programs for all regions, taking into account that quality, compliance to regional regulations and company policies and effectiveness. The Group Head of Training and Standards is also responsible for ensuring that his team creates a high quality training experience for all Wilderness Air operations to best achieve the organization's objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Provide guidance and oversight to the regional training and chief pilot departments.
- Overseeing the development of syllabuses under the flight training and ground training sections by ensuring that they are in line with industry’s best practice as well as the company and Authority requirements.
- Manage a sustainable and accurate record of departmental resources and expenses through monitoring that the responsible training personnel follow the approved annual training plan according to the associated training budget and ensuring that courses are cost effective and efficient.
- Develops clear learner-centred policies and ways of dealing with a wide range of learning programmes through continuous implementation, updating and maintaining of the Wilderness Air policies as prescribed in the Flight Operations Manuals- Part D.
- Overseeing the development of assessment policies which cover aspects of programme content, people trained, internal training procedures, practices and resources.
- Promoting an ethos of continuous improvement.
- Leading the Training Manager to promote a people-based and participative learning philosophy that stresses problem-solving and seeking improvement opportunities within the organization.
- Responsible to ensure the internal audit programmes to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and Company requirements are carried out.
- Overseeing the overall conduct and efficiency of all flying training and standardisation within Wilderness Air.
- Attending selection boards as appropriate for the selection and appointment of new management personnel.
- Ensuring that the training personnel actively contributes in the annual reviewing of training material in order for it to be current and compliant to both company and regulatory requirements.
- Must be the custodian of continuous and effective communication to all the Wilderness Air and Wilderness Group with regards to the Training Department’s activities and updates.
- Facilitate the approval of the company ATO in Botswana by the various regional CAAs.
- Travel between regions to conduct oversight of training and chief pilot activities.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Qualification:
- A minimum of 3000 Hours total flying time.
- Must hold or have held a Pilot Examiner Certificate.
- Must possess a Grade 2 Instructors rating.
Experience:
- 5 years of experience as a Training Manager or similar position.
- Should have proven record of being a designated subject matter expert in the aviation training management sector for a minimum of 3 years.
- Must have a C208 Instructor rated with at least 400 hours of Total Instruction time.
- Should have at least 1500 Turbine Aircraft Hours
- Must possess Class 1 medical
- Experience as instructor on synthetic flight devices.
Skills:
- In depth knowledge of the Regional Regulations issued by the Authorities with regards to training and Operational Procedures.
- Leadership ability.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Team worker with the ability to interface with both internal and external stakeholders.
- High level of computer proficiency.
- Ability to develop, deliver and evaluate learning programmes.
- Experience in multi-national and multi-cultural diversity.
- High level of understanding of Flight Simulators.
- Understanding of ATOs.
