SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
You will be responsible for the professional handling of clients and colleagues in distribution. Manage and coordinates activities of workers concerned with
receiving, picking, packing, inventorying, and shipping customer supplied product for all clients
• Ensure that the operations works and meets all the KPIs set by the Customers and Expeditors
• Ensure constant process improvements are implemented and measured to improve on Customer Satisfaction and efficiency of the operations
• Ensure we apply Lean principles and meet any additional program requirement such as Saphira licenses.
• Assist the Inventory Manger with the inventory for all Customers within the multiple facilities and ensure the annual stock takes are performed to a 99.99% accuracy level
• Ensure all billing to customer are as per the agreed scope and rates and are completed timely.
• Ensure all expenses are managed and kept to a minimum
• Manage all third party suppliers to ensure we have the best price and services
Manage & Develop the Distribution Department
• Actively engage in transitioning all new business gained large opportunities with the operations team
• Secure sufficient distribution personnel to effectively engage the district’s customer base. Continually recruit and interview to find new potential candidates.
• Assist in the creation and managing the Distribution Operations Department budget
• Facilitate daily/weekly operations meetings
• Review and coach operations team towards expectations
• Ensure that the team is prepared to successfully transition all new business
• Create and manage career development plans for operations team
• Conduct monthly one-on-one discussions.
Finance:
• Works on department budget and accounting to ensure that the costs are kept in-line with budget requirments
Compliance:
• Promote compliance in diligently following all company policies and regulations and in being the role model of integrity and pride for all employees.
• Proactively communicate with the team to ensure continuous awareness and understanding of policies and regulations.
• Maintain a positive relationship with the Trade Compliance Manager and support all compliance efforts and trainings.
• Be open to implementing new system changes and enhancements into your department.
• Be involved and suggest system/process improvements.
• Develops procedures to ensure the efficient operation and utilization of office equipment.
• Determines and recommends enhancements for computer systems/telephone equipment to meet cost and service goals.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND BEHAVIOURS:
Knowledge:
• Expeditors company policies and procedures knowledge
• A good understanding of Expeditors’ products, services and systems
• Strong market and competition knowledge
• A comprehensive knowledge of warehouse operations, warehouse and transportation management systems.
• Company’s working dynamics (our offices in the network, products and services).
Skills:
• Effective interpersonal skills, including proven abilities to listen, comprehend, communicate clearly and concisely.
• Good Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word etc.).
• A broad range of management skills, with a particular emphasis on leadership, supervision, motivation, communication, and planning.
• Must be able to give and receive innovative, creative and helpful feedback for team growth and productivity.
• Must be able to interface and communicate effectively within the organization, with business units, throughout the company, and with partners across the supply chain.
• Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Must be successful in managing effective deployment of resources, systems and personnel to enable achievement of organizational objectives.
• Extensive sourcing, negotiation and human relations skills are required.
• Bi-lingual ability a plus.
Candidate Requirements
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four year college or university; or 4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 5 years of direct experience
