The Customer Cluster Quality Engineer will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality performance of a designated customer cluster within the automotive industry. This role involves closely monitoring product quality, managing quality improvement initiatives, and acting as the primary quality liaison between the company, the customer cluster, and key suppliers. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including suppliers, to ensure that products meet or exceed customer expectations and industry standards.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a quality engineering role within the automotive industry.
Strong knowledge of automotive quality standards and methodologies (IATF 16949, ISO 9001, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, etc.).
Proven experience in customer-facing and supplier-quality roles, with excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Proficiency in quality tools such as 8D, 5 Whys, and SPC.
Experience with root cause analysis and problem-solving techniques.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
Willingness to travel as required to customer sites, supplier facilities, and other company locations.
Additional Qualifications:
Six Sigma Green Belt or higher certification.
Familiarity with advanced manufacturing processes and materials used in the automotive industry.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary quality contact for the assigned customer cluster.
Manage and maintain positive relationships with customers by addressing quality concerns, answering inquiries, and providing regular updates on quality performance.
Lead customer visits and audits, ensuring all quality-related issues are effectively communicated and resolved.
Monitor quality performance metrics for the customer cluster, including warranty data, field returns, and customer complaints.
Analyze trends and initiate corrective actions to address any quality issues.
Prepare and present quality performance reports to customers and internal stakeholders.
Collaborate with the Supplier Quality team to monitor and improve supplier performance within the customer cluster.
Conduct supplier audits to ensure compliance with company and customer quality standards.
Lead root cause analysis for supplier-related quality issues and drive the implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
Work with suppliers to develop and maintain quality documentation, including control plans, FMEAs, and PPAPs.
Support supplier development initiatives and work with suppliers to continuously improve quality performance.
Lead root cause analysis for any quality issues identified within the customer cluster, including those related to supplier components, using tools such as 8D, 5 Whys, and Fishbone diagrams.
Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) to eliminate root causes of quality issues.
Track the effectiveness of implemented actions and adjust strategies as needed.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to product quality and manufacturing processes within the customer cluster.
Collaborate with production, engineering, supply chain, and supplier teams to identify and implement process improvements.
Participate in and contribute to kaizen events and other lean manufacturing initiatives.
Ensure compliance with relevant automotive industry standards (e.g., IATF 16949, ISO 9001) and customer-specific requirements.
Support the development and maintenance of quality documentation, including control plans, FMEAs, and PPAPs.
Conduct internal audits to ensure adherence to quality management systems.
Train team members, suppliers, and other departments on quality standards, procedures, and best practices.
Mentor junior quality engineers and technicians within the team.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date quality records for the customer cluster and associated suppliers.
Prepare and submit quality-related documentation required by customers and suppliers, including PPAPs, IMDS submissions, and certification reports.
Ensure all quality documentation is aligned with internal and customer-specific standards.
