PURPOSE:
To serve as the primary client liaison, assess enquiry documents, calculate cost estimates, and present high-quality tenders. This role aims to maximize business opportunities in alignment with the Sales Director / Divisional Sales Manager (Filtration) and Quality Management System (QMS).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Drive Product Sales: Actively promote and sell the full range of current and future filtration products, leveraging market knowledge and sales strategies to meet and exceed sales targets.
Market Development: Work closely with the sales team to identify and penetrate new markets, exploring opportunities for growth and expanding the company’s market presence.
Sales Forecasting and Planning: Regularly update and maintain accurate sales forecasts and resource planning data to ensure alignment with business objectives and capacity planning.
Client Relationship Management: Build and nurture strong relationships with clients, acting as their primary point of contact to ensure their needs are met and issues are resolved promptly.
Proposal and Tender Preparation: Develop comprehensive and compelling equipment proposals and tenders, tailored to client specifications and requirements, to secure new business.
Cost Estimation: Utilize historical data and industry benchmarks to calculate accurate cost estimates for budget proposals and sub-supplier tenders, ensuring competitiveness and profitability.
Site Inspections: Participate in site inspections related to sales activities to gather essential information, validate requirements, and ensure solutions are feasible and practical.
Issue Resolution: Proactively address and resolve any discrepancies or issues raised by clients, ensuring clear communication and maintaining client satisfaction throughout the process.
Tender Follow-Up: Manage the follow-up process for tenders, ensuring all required information is provided, and work towards successful closure and contract award.
Tender Feedback Documentation: Collect and document feedback on tenders, updating the company’s network to inform future tendering processes and improve proposal quality.
Marketing and Sales Support: Contribute to and support the company’s marketing and sales initiatives, including participating in campaigns and promotional activities.
Technical Documentation: Compile and prepare detailed test work reports, process flow sheets, and P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) to support equipment proposals and client presentations.
Equipment Sizing and Selection: Perform detailed equipment sizing and selection based on project requirements and specifications to ensure optimal performance and compliance.
Sales Reporting: Provide regular updates on sales prospects, opportunities, and market trends to inform strategic decision-making and business planning.
Commissioning and Optimization: Assist in the commissioning and optimization of equipment, ensuring it meets performance standards and client expectations.
Client Presentations: Deliver engaging and informative presentations to clients, showcasing the company’s equipment and solutions to support sales efforts.
Test Work Oversight: Oversee and execute laboratory and pilot plant test work to validate equipment performance and support product development.
Supplier Interaction: Prepare and issue enquiry documents to suppliers and conduct thorough technical and commercial evaluations of sub-supplier tenders to ensure alignment with project needs.
Supplier Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with both local and international suppliers, ensuring reliable and efficient supply chain operations.
Handover Documentation: Prepare and present comprehensive handover documentation to the contracts department, ensuring all project details and requirements are clearly communicated for contract execution.

Candidate Requirements
Our client is looking for a sales engineer or engineer/metallurgist with experience in proposals and tenders who is interested in transitioning into sales. Candidates should have qualifications in chemical engineering or extractive metallurgy, along with sales or proposal experience related to filtration equipment (pressure/vacuum) used in minerals processing, water treatment, or process industries.
While experience with filtration is preferred, we are also open to considering candidates with other relevant minerals processing experience.
