The HR Officer will be responsible for executing all HR processes throughout the life cycle of the employee, including, searching for suitable candidates, interviewing, onboarding, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, disciplinary actions, performance reviews, offboarding. HR officer is responsible for keeping LottoStar’s policies and procedures up to date and in line with applicable legislation. HR officer is responsible for ensuring LottoStar’s compliance with legislation, including, but not limited to COIDA, PAYE, SDL, Employment Equity Act, Labour Relations Act.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Obtain job specs from HOD’s/draft job specs in collaboration with HOD’s and find suitable candidates
- Assist in the interview process (call references, check payslips, make recommendations on proposed payment amounts)
- Assist in onboarding chosen candidate, including drafting all relevant documentation and ensuring the signing thereof
- Train all employees on HR policies and procedures and be an expert in all HR policies and procedures
- Compile correspondence and documentation around HR processes e.g. letters of appointment and liaise with employees to facilitate the completion of starter packs; termination checklists; leave forms, and other conditions relating to other conditions of employment.
- Facilitate the capturing of changes in the HR System in line with operational changes and changes to employee’s personal information
- Facilitate the completion of Change forms and flow of paperwork to support these changes
- Obtain authorisation of key stakeholders
- Notify relevant stakeholders (such as payroll) of relevant changes in line with deadlines; ensuring documentation is complete
- Compile and update personnel files with required documentation
- Check the data integrity in the HR system ensuring that it is complete and accurate
- Prepare audit documentation in line with policy, standards and requirements
- Responsible for assisting the legal and compliance in ensuring all employees hold valid licenses with the relevant Gaming Board.
- Complete monthly HR reports for area of accountability
- ER issues: Assist in all disciplinary actions to be undertaken, including making recommendations for warnings to be given based on the company’s disciplinary code and labour legislation.

- Absenteeism & Sick leave status - highlighting areas of concern and initiatives to correct
- Performance Management statistics – highlighting areas of concern and recommendations for improving performance
- Productivity reports
- Status update on HR projects / initiatives
Candidate Requirements
- Diploma/Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as an HR generalist including 3 years’ experience as an HR Officer
- Strong understanding of HR best practices, employment laws, and regulations
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex information to diverse audiences
- Proven track record of driving HR initiatives and delivering results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Ability to think strategically while also being hands-on and detail orientated. Track record of successfully meeting or exceeding organisational targets, achieving ambitious goals, and, driving significant impact
- Creativity and flexibility with an ability to thrive in a fast-paced and changing environment
- The desire and ability to work collaboratively with staff members across teams
