We are seeking a qualified and experienced Group Legal Advisor and HR Manager to join our dynamic team. This dual role requires a legal background (LLB) and substantial HR management experience to provide expert guidance and support across legal and human resources functions within our organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Employee Relations: Provide comprehensive advice and support on HR issues to employees and management in alignment with HR practices and organizational culture.
- Industrial Relations: Ensure company disciplinary codes and policies comply with statutory Acts. Advise management on disciplinary procedures and manage relations with Bargaining Councils and unions.
- Recruitment and Retention: Oversee all recruitment activities, ensuring effective strategies for talent acquisition and retention.
- HR Administrative Systems: Maintain efficient HR systems, including employment contracts, reporting, and oversight of all HR processes.
- Training and Development: Identify training needs, implement programs, evaluate outcomes, and manage training documentation and funding through relevant Setas (e.g., FP&M Setas).
- Company Policies and Procedures: Ensure all company policies and procedures are current, legally compliant, and aligned with legislative requirements.
- Employment Equity: Update and manage Employment Equity (EE) Plans and Reports, facilitate EE committee meetings, and submit required documentation to the Department of Labour.
- Legal Advisory: Provide legal advice and support on all legal matters affecting the group of companies, including contracts, disputes, compliance, and regulatory issues.
- Travel: Occasional national travel required for meetings, site visits, and other business needs.
- LLB qualification is essential.
- 5-10 years of combined experience in legal advisory and human resources management roles.
- Thorough knowledge of South African labor laws, employment practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Proven experience in industrial relations, including negotiations with unions and compliance with Bargaining Councils.
- Strong HR management skills with a focus on recruitment, employee relations, training, and development.
- Excellent organizational and administrative abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to influence and advise at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure in a dynamic environment.
- Willingness to travel nationally as required.
