Job purpose
Provide administrative support in tax practitioner compliance and monitoring of the tax practitioner regulatory policy.
Key outputs
Engaging with members (query management)
• Responsible for dealing with Tax Practitioner related queries via all mediums of communication namely telephonically, direct e-mails, queries referred from the SAICA contact centre, the Standards technical query system, walk ins and per the on line call management / query system;
• Log all queries and resolve Tax Practitioner related queries or escalate the issues timeously and in accordance with the SAICA query resolution policy;
• Meet the requirements per the Service Level Agreement with Contact Centre for turnaround time and query resolution;
• Provide regular status updates for queries unresolved through various means of communication internally and to members;
• Able to deal with difficult circumstances professionally and be able to come with acceptable solutions and/or escalate based on the circumstances.
• To treat Members/associates contacting the Institute with a professional and efficient approach.
• To be service orientated in dealings with staff members, regional societies and members.
• To have sufficient knowledge of the departments within the Secretariat to correctly refer queries to the relevant department/employee to assist them with their queries.
• Ensure that all queries are handled and resolved professionally, efficiently and within turnaround time.
Tax practitioner registration related administration
• Perform due diligence assessments on declarations received from members wishing to register as a tax practitioner including but not limited to:
o Capturing of individual file on the system for record keeping purposes.
o Address negative responses and engage with the member.
o Advise members of the tax practitioner requirements.
o Assist the membership department as and when required.
o Any other administrative work related to tax practitioners as required.
Tax practitioner compliance
• Assist regulators and internal stakeholders with additional information required on non- compliant tax practitioners.
• Regularly update the relevant documentation around the tax practitioner compliance process.
• Assist with the development of templates and guidance documentations around the compliance process.
• Assist with any other administrative activities around tax practitioner compliance
Tax Practitioner Monitoring
• Engage with tax practitioners who disclosed non-compliance during the annual declaration.
• Collect and keep record of individuals selected for monitoring
• Review of audit evidence provided by tax practitioners.
• Handling all tax practitioner monitoring related queries from members as well as internally generated queries.
• Assist with the development of templates and guidance documentation around the tax practitioner monitoring process.
• Provide stats on the tax practitioner declaration monitoring and audit.
Communication
• Attend SAICA events to promote, communicate and engage with members around their Tax practitioner requirements where recommended by Project Manager: member Compliance
• Regularly update the relevant documentation and resources both internal and external around tax practitioner
• Assist with the development of templates and guidance documentations around Tax Practitioner.
IT projects, change requests and bugs
• Where changes are required to the systems related to tax practitioners, the following tasks need to be performed:
o Assist in testing changes made to the system.
o Follow up with IT to ensure these are closed on a timely basis
General
• Assist the team in overflow circumstances, as and when the need arises
• To have sufficient knowledge of departments within SAICA to resolve queries correctly
• To be service oriented in dealing with members and staff.
