Employer: Air Chefs
- Developing and implementing a strategic approach for the procurement of a specific commodities. This involves analyzing market trends, assessing supplier capabilities, and identifying opportunities for cost reduction, value enhancement, and risk management.
- Identifying, evaluating, and selecting suppliers for the designated commodity.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable and competitive sources of supply.
- Negotiating contracts, managing supplier performance, and resolving any issues or disputes.
- Analyzing and monitoring commodity prices, market conditions, and cost drivers to optimize procurement costs.
- Implementing strategies such as price negotiations, volume structures and alternative strategic sourcing.
- Collaborating with departments including logistics, production, and quality assurance, to streamline the supply chain for the designated commodities.
- Identifying opportunities for process improvement, reducing lead times, and enhancing overall supply chain efficiency.
- Identifying and evaluating risks associated with the designated commodity, such as supply disruptions, price volatility and quality issues.
- Developing risk management strategies, including contingency plans, supplier diversification, and proactive monitoring, to mitigate potential disruptions.
- Staying updated on industry trends, market dynamics, technological advancements, and regulatory changes related to the designated commodity.
- Conducting market research, attending industry conferences, and networking to gather relevant information and insights.
Financial
- Recommends cost saving initiatives and controls expenditure within approved parameters.
- Control expenditure according to budget and report deviations according to financial procedures.
- Assist team with analysis of costs of sales and price variances
SHEQ
- Adhere to all aspects of Occupational Health and Safety, Security and Food Safety Management System guidelines and operational policies and procedures.
FOOD SAFTEY
- Comply with all food safety management requirements.
- Strong Quality control background.
- Ability to conduct food quality testing.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Conducts work in a customer-orientated manner to ensure adherence to service level agreements.
- Supply chain/procurement committees.
- Compliance and ethical compliance stakeholders
- National Treasury and Auditor General experience.
Candidate Requirements
Education Level: (minimum)
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or equivalent experience
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in the procurement or commodity buying environment.
- Deep understanding of commodity markets and cost drive
- Experience in cost breakdown
- Must have knowledge in food and beverage industry.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook).
- SAP Experience- Essential
- Strong knowledge and application of PFMA
- Excellent communication (Verbal & Written)
- Must have strong analytical problem-solving skills.
- High attention to details
- Strong understanding of procurement Management principles and practices
- Strong reporting skills
